Before we could build anything else, we had to take care of the windows. We needed to delete windows that would have walls built over them, and windows behind the shower, fridge, and pantry. We decided to remove the factory windows, and replace them with wood inserts covered in sheet metal.
getting the fit right |
Added liquid nails hoping it would help adhere the metal to the wood when we had to "break" it around the edges.
added weight & let it sit overnight to dry |
Next day...
So, the liquid nails didn't keep the metal from separating, so I had to sit on top & apply pressure while Robbie hammered the steel around the wood insert.
Fitting them into the window spaces...
We added a second wood plank on top of the outer one... |
…and added a few screws into the top |
One more thing had to be done before the real building could begin…A temporary window unit!
